About the team

Partner engineering works in collaboration with the others team to help support a partner with technical issues. Issues can range form debugging channel code to creating and testing new features that the partner would eventually implement (with our help, of course). The sort of issues we encounter can be related to UI, media playback, channel performance, and Roku Pay.

For California Only - The estimated hourly rate for this position is between $20 and $50 per hour.

Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location.

About the role

We are seeking an intern for the Roku Partner Engineering team. This position is fast-paced, hands-on, and focused on working with our top partners to:

  • Developer community – work closely with our Developer Relations team, Partner Management and top developers to debug and improve channels and apps on Roku
  • Enhance the Roku platform – interface with core OS and Media engineering teams to gain an understanding of the Roku system and apply that knowledge to improve channels on the platform
  • Developer growth – Attend and contribute to engineering project sync meetings for ongoing Roku & channel partner development. Gain an understanding of key issues faced by partners and implement/recommend fixes

What you’ll be doing

The successful candidate is an energetic team player that collaborates, asks questions, and seeks opportunities for improving the Roku platform. They have demonstrated experience in problem solving, leadership, and understands the fundamentals of front-end development.

We’re excited if you have

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Programming experience in languages such as C++, Java, Javascript, Python, Brightscript, etc
  • Programming experience with emphasis on embedded system is a plus
  • Familiarity with XML/JSON syntax
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
