About the team
Roku's Web Engineering team is responsible for the development and support of Roku's web application framework, design system, a host of consumer-facing web properties, web applications and an ecosystem of web services tied to content management systems, automated publishing tools, internationalization/localization, deployments and build tools, and much more. Our goal is to empower our community of web developers to build and deploy user-friendly, secure, user accessible, SEO-friendly and highly performant applications with the proper Roku branding and UX consistency.
About the role
Roku is seeking an experienced and versatile Sr. Software Engineer in Test, who is passionate about developing innovative, automated testing solutions on groundbreaking technologies and frameworks. The candidate should be self-driven, with a strong background in JavaScript and Python programming, as well as test automation frameworks. The primary responsibility of the candidate will be to work closely with both QA and Development teams to design and create a unified test automation framework that will be used across all levels of the web development organization.
What you'll be doing
- Design and develop a reliable, scalable and maintainable test automation framework
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with the QA and Development teams to develop automation processes and plans
- Develop detailed automated tests from test plans, test cases and functional specs
- Diagnose, debug and perform root-cause analysis of issues and defects
- Actively participate in test planning discussions to assure automation coverage is continuously improving
We're excited if you have
- Expertise developing complex test automation and scripts using JavaScript
- Software development and/or quality engineering experience on ReactJS/NodeJS web applications using tools such as Cypress.io
- Experience designing and running performance, accessibility, security and SEO tests
- Experience with release management of DevOps/Pipelines (Jenkins or Gitlab CI)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in an agile environment
- 5+ years of proven experience in software development and test
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
