About the team
At Roku, we like to say that there are no bystanders, and that is as true in the advertising team as it is in any other facet of the company. We work together to ensure our clients understand this new world of advertising, that they are making the best possible decisions to support their own goals, and drive advertiser interest and engagement across the board. The Advertising Sales team is responsible for driving ad revenue with Advertisers and ultimately enabling our clients to reach their business objectives.
About the role
The world is cutting the cord and streaming its TV online, a shift that has dramatically changed how advocacy and political advertisers target, reach and measure their preferred audiences in ways that broadcast TV and cable never could. In this new world, Roku has re-written the rules of modern advertising, and we are looking for an Account Executive who can partner with democratic political and advocacy agencies and campaigns to show them how to best leverage our unique position in the streaming ecosystem.
This position is on the front lines of generating media ad sales, and custom content sponsorship revenue on the Roku platform. The ideal candidate will be evangelizing our advertising offering to democratic/progressive agencies and clients. A strong background in democratic politics and knowledge and contacts in the political and advocacy sectors are required, as well as a strong understanding of digital video advertising, executed via managed service and programmatically. Must be driven to work independently and utilize resourceful qualities to manage many duties in this fast-paced vertical, including relationship building, media strategy, presentations, marketing materials, and ideation of custom solutions.
Ability to develop a sales strategy and business plan to help drive new revenue streams for this ad business. Ideally you have worked in a digital start-up environment and are familiar with the required dedication for a fast paced/multi-tasking environment that requires open arms to uncertainty. With the landscape constantly changing, this candidate must persevere amidst change, and always strategically thinking of how to bring additional solutions to create seamless workflows within the vertical. The estimated annual salary for this position is between $138,000 - $146,000 annually. Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location.
This role is eligible for incentive compensation/commissions, health insurance, equity awards, life insurance, disability benefits, parental leave, wellness benefits, and paid time off.
What you’ll be doing
- Individual contributor for democratic political vertical revenue, working against aggressive advertising revenue goals - need to hit the ground running and be a fast learner
- Proactively build and maintain a pipeline of sales targets, contacts, and sales opportunities via cold calling and leveraging your connections at client direct and associated agencies
- Strategically grow existing accounts within the vertical by providing strategic consultation, while exposing key partners to the full benefits of Roku products
- Respond to RFPs: collaborate with account management, inventory, research, product, and marketing to provide appropriate solutions
- Report on revenue projections/forecasts
We’re excited if you have
- 5+ years' experience in digital advertising, programmatic and digital video
- Demonstrates a successful track record of working closely with political and advocacy stakeholders and their agencies
- Strong understanding of the RFP process
- Previous experience working in a political election cycle
- Deep understanding of programmatic workflows
- Bachelor’s degree
- This will be a remote role based in the Washington DC area
