About the Team

The Subscriptions team at Roku is focused on growing Roku’s subscriptions business by evaluating opportunities to better compete in the SVOD landscape and working cross-functionally to ensure the optimal execution of those initiatives. As the company’s core business team thinking about subscriptions, we are setting the strategy and vision for Roku’s SVOD business and partnering closely with internal teams such as Content Distribution, Partner Growth/Management, Marketing, Merchandising, and Product to bring the vision to life. 

About the role

Roku is seeking an experienced and dynamic Business Development & Marketing Partnerships leader in Mexico focused on growing Roku-billed subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) services on the platform in territory. This role is critical to expanding our subscriptions presence, subscriber reach and subscription monetization opportunities by identifying, evaluating, and negotiating partnerships with local companies across a wide variety of industries across the subscription and billing landscape, such as telco, retail, financial services, payments to increase awareness and drive subscriber growth.   

Additionally, this leadership role will help bring together and develop efficient and effective operational processes across all subscriptions resources in the market who support the overall growth of subscriptions.  You will be the subscriptions business local Mexico market lead in bridging strategies, comms and culture with our global teams. 

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in subscription business models, a strong understanding of the entertainment and media landscape in Mexico, and a proven track record of operational execution in strategic partnerships.  The role will also be a key touchpoint in connecting our US-based global subscription team with the cross-functional local team.   

The role is in Mexico City, MX and requires strong professional level Spanish and English language proficiency.   

What you will be doing

  • Strategy Development in partnership with the global subscriptions growth team as well as Rokus broader Mexico market leadership team
  • Develop and implement comprehensive subscription partnership strategies to drive subscription growth, engagement and monetization 
  • Identify, cultivate, and maintain strong ecosystem relationships with existing and potential future partners that align with Roku’s subscription growth strategy. 
  • Analyze market trends, competitive dynamics, and platform performance to identify new growth opportunities, refine strategies, and inform decision-making.
  • Build a strong subscriptions team culture and environment focused on excellence and growth 

Partnership Development: 

  • Identify, evaluate, and secure partnerships with local companies, including telcos, retail chains, payment and billing platforms (e.g., OXXO), and other relevant organizations. 
  • Develop marketing partnerships to amplify brand awareness and drive subscription sign-ups. 

Strategic Negotiation: 

  • Lead negotiations to structure mutually beneficial agreements that align with business objectives and drive long-term growth. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure partnerships are strategically aligned with company goals. 

Operational Execution: 

  • Oversee the implementation and operational management of partnerships, ensuring seamless execution and measurable results.
  • Monitor and optimize partnership performance, leveraging data-driven insights to refine strategies. 

Market Expertise: 

  • Leverage deep local knowledge of Mexico’s media and entertainment ecosystem to identify untapped opportunities and emerging trends. 
  • Stay informed about competitive activity and market dynamics to inform decision-making. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration: 

  • Work closely with marketing, product, and operations teams to ensure alignment and integration of partnership initiatives. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for partners, fostering strong relationships, and ensuring ongoing collaboration. 

We're excited if you have

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in subscription business models, preferably within the entertainment and media industry. 
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful partnerships in Mexico. 
  • Strong understanding of Mexico’s media and entertainment landscape, including key players, consumer behavior, and market trends.
  • Exceptional negotiation and relationship-building skills.  
  • Strong operational and project management capabilities to execute and scale partnerships effectively. 
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data to inform decisions and optimize performance. 
  • Self-starter mentality
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, Media, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred but not required.
