  About the Role

Roku is rapidly growing our Bangalore office, and we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager, Data Engineering to grow and lead our Subscriptions Experience Data Engineering team in India.  This role will involve close collaboration with Global Business and Engineering teams to ensure the successful delivery of Data Engineering projects.

As part of our Data Engineering leadership team, you will lead and manage a local team of Data Engineers and drive data engineering initiatives to support and improve Subscription Experience.  Partnering with other Data Engineering members across many offices, you will be a key resource in the planning, execution, and delivery of global projects.

What you'll be doing

Lead the design, development, and maintenance of highly scalable, available, fault-tolerant distributed data processing systems (batch and streaming systems) processing over 10s of terabytes of data ingested every day and petabyte-sized data warehouse with a focus on data quality

Work jointly with the teams in US and responsible for overall roadmap, planning, and project deliverables

Work closely with other DE Managers and support their teams in Bangalore office providing technical and personal leadership

Hire, lead, and manage team of talented Data Engineers of Roku

Establish best practices in software development, architectures, quality assurance and stakeholder communications

Be a player, coach, mentor and inspire the team to achieve high performance goals

Maintain and support existing platforms and evolve to newer technology stacks and architectures when needed

Collaborate with cross-functional product and engineering teams and foster a multi-regional collaboration and innovative team environment

Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities

We’re excited if you have:

10+ years of experience developing and maintaining Big Data Solutions.

5+ years of experience in a managerial/leadership position, hiring, developing, and managing teams

Experience working on near real-time and streaming applications

Experience with Distributed data/computing tools (Hive, Kafka, Spark, Airflow, etc.)

Experience with Data visualization and warehousing tools (Looker, Tableau, Redshift, Snowflake etc.)

Deep knowledge with at least one programming language (Python, Java, C++)

Experience with a public cloud (Google Cloud, AWS, Microsoft Azure)

Strong project management, strategic thinking, problem solving, and comfort with ambiguity

A solid understanding of SOX, GDPR and other data compliance requirements

Bias for action and passion for delivering high quality solutions.

Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to articulate key messages to executives, stakeholders, team members, and end users.

Bachelor’s (or higher) in Computer Science, or a related field.
