About the Team

Our mission is to help Roku scale, enabling the Roku OS on more machines to extend our reach. We enable Roku and our partners to effectively develop, test, and maintain device platforms at scale.

About the Role

When considering new additions to our team, we seek individuals who possess more than just technical expertise. We value those with a strong curiosity about understanding the intricacies of how things operate and their willingness to delve deeper to expand their knowledge. Additionally, we appreciate candidates who have experience working in diverse environments and have not rigidly adhered to a single approach, but are open to exploring various alternative methods.

We are seeking a skilled cloud systems engineer to become a valuable member of our team. In this position, you will be part of a team dedicated to developing and maintaining Roku's Web Applications and Tools to support the team's scaling and partner experience efforts. This role necessitates a strong background in scripting, CI/CD, cloud architecture, and microservices.

What you will be doing

Determine strategic and tactical direction of the backend architecture and middleware services
Implement, test, document, and deliver highly scalable and reliable platform services and components that create the foundation of the core web application platform
Develop, document, deploy, and maintain tools to enable our partners to productize and sustain platforms at scale
Suggest tools, cloud-based technologies/services, and best practices to improve the site stability, performance and quality
Participate in an Agile development process, including scoping, technical design, estimation effort, coding, testing, debugging, code reviews, maintenance, and support

We’re excited if you have

3+ years of experience in Python, Flask, Advanced Python Libraries
3+ years of experience in backend or full stack development
1+ years of experience in AWS, CI/CD, Docker, Git, Shell Scripting
Experience with build systems - GNU Makefiles, OpenEmbedded, BitBake
Excellent Cloud Computing, REST APIs, and Service Oriented architectural skills
Proven track record of success with web application development and deployment
Familiarity with building developer tools
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
