About your role
Roku is looking for an experienced communications professional to lead Roku’s external communications efforts in Brazil. The role requires experience working directly with technology, entertainment, trade and consumer press. Knowledge of the broadcast, TV, media, streaming and technology industry is a must. The Sr. Communications Manager, Brazil will help build Roku’s profile in Brazil by creating and executing public relations campaigns aimed at consumers, content publishers and advertisers. This person will report to the Sr. Director, Corporate and International Communications, and work closely together with the local go-to-market team in Brazil, and the global communications team.The ideal candidate makes complex things sounds wonderfully simple. You love strategy, copy and the impact of words on people. You thrive on resolving ambiguity and can handle pressure like no other. You love deadlines, goals and targets and can get excited about inventing creative solutions for complex challenges. You have the right mix of organizational and communication skills to be successful at Roku. You think in solutions with your excellent problem-solving skills. In addition, you are a self-starter with impeccable attention to detail and a proven ability to juggle priorities. We are looking for people ready to lead by example and who are selfless in their leadership across teams, collaboration with peers, partners, and colleagues.
What you will be doing
- Build awareness for the Roku brand and its products and services
- Advise on strategy, building and executing communication campaigns and events while managing Roku’s local PR, social media and production agencies
- Maintain strategic alignment with the global and regional leads on communications and social media initiatives
- Support the successful introduction of new services and devices to the market including streaming channels, Roku branded devices and OEM products
- Support product review programs enabling devices to score high marks
- Assist in developing relationships with top communications counterparts at major media and tech companies to create innovative ways to showcase Roku’s collaboration with its partners. Support executive outreach to connect senior Roku leadership with their media and tech industry peers.
- Advise Roku executives and shape the narrative at prominent industry conferences and events
- Help elevate visibility and endorsement of Roku’s content distribution and programming strategies and the benefits to publishers and advertisers
- Strengthen relationships with members of the press and influencers to highlight Roku’s platform, features, products, strategies, and competitive advantages
- Obtaining approvals for press releases, media alerts, blog posts, as well as acquiring visual assets
- Helping grow relationships with business, consumer and lifestyle media and influencers and bring new opportunities to the company
We are excited if you have
- 10+ years of public relations experience (both in-house and at an agency), preferably with at least 5 years of experience working in related industries such as technology, streaming TV, or digital advertising industries
- An understanding of how the streaming business model works, in addition to a love of television and technology
- Knowledge of the connected TV advertising world
- Experience translating creative ideas into successful campaigns, as well as connecting brands with influencers and trending themes
- Experience using key industry events that help elevate executives and business objectives
- Experience on social media and paid and non-paid influencer marketing strategies and campaigns
- Great media and influencer relationships, in addition to agencies contacts
- Positive and collaborative personality; a commitment to ensuring all activities undertaken are as successful as possible
- Strong writer and communicator with attention to detail who can gather information and distill it effectively
- Experience managing budgets
- Good judgment, particularly in high pressure times and the ability to independently structure and manage workflow and priorities
- A keen sense of what is popular and buzz-worthy when it comes to pop culture of TV and entertainment
- Advanced English proficiency
