About The Team
The Content Management team at Roku is instrumental in developing vital systems for content ingestion, enrichment, management, and curation. Our focus lies in engineering scalable, reliable automation frameworks and content pipelines to streamline content delivery to customers, resulting in effectively slashing lead times. Our contributions directly impact millions of Roku users globally, empowering critical functions like Search & Recommendation on the Roku Platform. We take the lead in building and designing robust systems, fostering collaboration with key stakeholders across multiple engineering teams.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Develop integrated and end-to-end automated tests using Java, JavaScript, Python, and modern automation frameworks.
- Maintain, execute, and enhance automated regression test suites for backend services and front-end applications.
- Develop comprehensive test plans in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Provide rapid feedback to development teams by creating seamless, frictionless test execution experiences.
- Actively triage bugs, collaborate with dependent teams, and drive issues through to resolution.
- Enhance CI/CD pipelines (GitLab/Jenkins) to accelerate feedback loops for developers.
- Create mocks, stubs, and specialized tools to enhance the testability of applications.
- Continuously enhance automation frameworks and leverage advanced AI technologies for metadata QC processes.
- Prioritize and manage parallel projects effectively, ensuring critical functionalities are tested first to promptly unblock development.
- Perform thorough code reviews for automated tests developed by your peers.
- Develop dashboards and alerting systems to continuously monitor application quality.
We’re Excited if You Have:
- 8+ years of experience in test automation development.
- 5+ years of programming experience in Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Proven experience developing robust automated tests for backend services and front-end applications.
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience with Behavior Driven Development (BDD) frameworks.
- Familiarity with Cypress (Cypress, Mocha, Chai) or Selenium (TestNG) for front-end automation.
- Proficiency in developing unit tests and integration tests, particularly with Java-based applications.
- Expertise in developing and enhancing CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI or Jenkins.
- Solid experience with APIs, Microservices, and cloud technologies (AWS, GCP).
- Strong knowledge of data querying languages and tools (Elasticsearch).
- Experience with dashboarding and monitoring solutions like Grafana.
- Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for debugging complex issues.
- Ability to independently prioritize, organize work streams, and clearly communicate statuses across various stakeholders.
- Comfortable working closely with product, UX, operations, and cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
