Roku’s Partner Growth team is responsible for managing content partner relationships, setting a growth strategy, and scaling top partners on the platform.

 

About the role

Roku is seeking a Senior Director of Partner Management (Technical Engagement) to lead the company’s most critical technical relationships with streaming partners and developers. This role is responsible for ensuring partners can successfully build, certify, publish, and scale high-quality app experiences on Roku.   

This leader will own Roku’s partner technical engagement strategy and manage high-performing teams responsible for Partner Engagement, Partner Technical Management, and SDK developer relations.  

In addition, this role will be a key executive responsible for collaborating with Roku Engineering, Roku Payments, and Roku Product to represent partner technical and business interests.  The position requires executive-level technical credibility, strong product instincts, and the ability to engage at executive levels both internally and externally.   

For California Only - The estimated annual salary for this position is between $348,600 and $414,800 annually.

Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location.
This role is eligible for health insurance, equity awards, life insurance, disability benefits, parental leave, wellness benefits, and paid time off.

The role is based in San Jose and reports to Roku’s SVP, Streaming Services Partnerships. 

 

What you’ll be doing

Partner Engagement & Strategy 

  • Serve as the executive technical point of contact for Roku’s most strategic streaming partners, including major media companies and global streamers. 
  • Define and lead Roku’s partner engagement model, from roadmap planning to onboarding to certification to ongoing optimization and innovation. 
  • Balance Roku and partner needs and create clear technical and product requirements, influencing Roku and partners on roadmap and priorities. 

Partner Technical Management 

  • Lead and scale the Partner Technical Management organization responsible for deep technical support, escalations, and complex partner app integrations.
  • Set strong standards for technical excellence, high quality of work, affective mentoring, high job satisfaction, and career growth across the Partner Technical Management team.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and collaborator with both partner technical teams and Roku Engineering to help ensure consumers have the best app and content experiences on Roku. 

SDK Developer Relations & Ecosystem Growth 

  • Lead Roku’s SDK developer relations team, ensuring Roku’s SDKs, APIs, and tools are intuitive, well-documented, and aligned with developer needs.
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to shape SDK technical roadmap.
  • Manage Roku’s developer documentation and developer portal, working to employ automation, AI, and advanced tools to create better developer experiences
  • Represent Roku externally at industry events, developer summits, and technical forums.
  • Champion the voice of developers internally, driving product, SDK, and process improvements that increase developer adoption and satisfaction. 

 

We’re excited if you have 

Required Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in partner technical management, engineering, platform product management, developer relations, or technical program management, with at least 8+ years managing teams and senior leaders.
  • Strong technical background with experience in software platforms, SDKs, APIs, distributed systems, or consumer devices.
  • Proven experience leading externally facing technical teams that work with large enterprise partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage credibly with VP- and C-level partner engineering and product leaders.
  • Experience managing or interacting with developer platforms, app ecosystems, certification processes, or publishing workflows.
  • Bachelor’s degree qualification in a technical field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, mathematics, etc.) or related discipline.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical topics for executive and non-technical audiences. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience working with streaming video platforms, smart TV ecosystems, or media technology.
  • Background at companies with strong partner ecosystems (e.g., Netflix, Google, Amazon, Apple, Meta, gaming platforms, or OS-level platforms).
  • Familiarity with TV app development, performance optimization, DRM, playback, analytics, payments, or ad tech.
  • Experience scaling global partner programs and teams.
